Five-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton could earn an “insane” amount of money by posting on Instagram.

Hamilton is indeed one of the most popular sports icons in the world today. This is the same reason why he currently has 12.4 million followers on Instagram. And while Hamilton has been having quite a successful run on his Formula 1 career, a recent research shows that the F1 icon could also make a living by just posting on Instagram.

According to Motoring Research, Hamilton is said to be earning over £40,000 ($48,000) per Instagram post. The research suggests that online “influencers” can charge an average of £1,667 ($2,004) per 500,000 online followers, which means that Hamilton could be making a cool £40,590 ($48,811) per post from his 12.4 million followers.

These figures make Hamilton top the list of famous Formula 1 racers who can also earn money for each Instagram post.

Max Verstappen’s 2.4 million Instagram followers can earn him nearly £8,000 ($9,620) per sponsored post. Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate and points runner-up Valtteri Bottas on the other hand, can rake in £3,630 ($4,365) per sponsored post, based on his 1.1 million followers.

Hamilton is already one of the world's highest paid athletes with a base contract said to be worth almost £800,000 ($962,031)-a-week with employers Mercedes. In terms of annual salary, the legendary F1 racer unbelievably earns the average UK yearly wage £29,588 ($35,580) in just nine hours, 46 minutes and 48 seconds.

Should this “influencer” and Instagram thing come into fruition for Hamilton, it will definitely add to his accomplishments beyond racing. Last month, Hamilton was featured as an icon on Sports Illustrated's Fashionable Fifty along with Tennis superstar Serena Williams. On social media, Hamilton revealed that fashion is one of his passion and also shared that he loves creating designs and collaborating with others in putting almost everything into life.

Back in Formula 1, despite already establishing himself as one of the best drivers of his generation , Hamilton has completely dismissed the idea of leaving the sport any time soon and believes that he still has a lot left to achieve under Mercedes, Planet F1 reported.

“One day I will have to stop but right now I feel fantastic, physically and mentally. I don’t have any plans on stopping any time soon, there is more to do, more to win, more to achieve together inside and outside the car,” Hamilton said.

If he emerges from the 2019 F1 season victorious, he will have matched seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher as the joint most-successful Grand Prix driver of all time.
