For any racer, male or female, breaking speed records would be the first thing that comes to mind. This is made only for a select few and Jessi Combs is no stranger when it comes to attempting record feats.

Already branded as the "Fastest Woman on Four Wheels," Combs attempted to break another land-speed record at the Alvord Desert. Unfortunately, the outcome was not successful and worst of all claim the life of the 39-year-old Spike TV show host.

In a report from TMZ Sports, the Harney County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene of the crash at around 4:00 p.m. A member of her crew, Terry Madden confirmed that Combs died via Instagram on Wednesday. He was one of the first ones on the scene of the horrific scene and that they exhausted all means to save Combs. The actual cause of her death is still being investigated.

"Unfortunately we lost her yesterday in a horrific accident, I was the first one there and trust me we did everything humanly possible to save her!!" he continued. "I'm not ok, but she is right here keeping my going - I made her a promise that if this didn’t go well that I would make sure and do good with it, please help me with that."

Combs was trying to break her land-speed record set back in 2016. He drove nearly 478 MPH in the same desert. It was not the first time she had tried to improve her mark, having done so back in 2016.

It was in 2013 where she earned her nickname, breaking a 48-year-old record when she clocked 398 miles per hour on her North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger. She piloted the same 52,000 HP jet-powered car. On television, she has had notable appearances on "MythBusters" and "Overhaulin'."

Among the personalities who mourned her death included "Mythbusters" host Adam Savage. He posted this on Twitter.
