First Royal To Die From Coronavirus Revealed Days After Prince Charles Thanked Supporters

The first royal death from coronavirus has been reported while Prince Charles continues self-isolation after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Princess Maria Teresa of Spain's Bourbon-Parma dynasty passed away on Friday. The 86-year-old royal tested positive for coronavirus. The news was confirmed by her younger brother, Prince Sixtus Henry of Bourbon-Parma, Daily Mail reported.

Princess Maria Teresa was born in Paris, France on July 28, 1933. She did not have any children and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews including Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, Princess Margarita and Prince Jaime.

The news of Princess Maria Teresa’s passing came shortly after Prince Charles broke his silence to thank royal fans who continue to support him while he battles the same disease. The Prince of Wales was also diagnosed with coronavirus a few days back.

“Thank you for all your ‘Get Well Soon’ messages for His Royal Highness. He is enormously touched by your kind words,” Clarence House wrote.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles are in Windsor. They are self-isolating separately after the heir apparent contracted the virus. According to a source, Camilla is in another area of the estate. The Duchess of Cornwall is concerned of her husband, but she remains positive of his condition.

“Both of them remain in good spirits,” a source told People. “There is a sense of keeping calm and carrying on. The duchess is concerned for him but she is aware of his own good spirits and therefore is keeping a close eye on him and mindful of her own situation. She is upbeat.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Dawn Harper said that like a common cold, there is no guarantee that if one member in the household contracts the disease, the rest will suffer the same. However, she went on and shared some tips for Camilla to keep herself free from the virus.

“Let's hope the Duchess remains asymptomatic but she will need to take precautions to increase her chances of remaining symptom-free,” Harper said. “There is also some evidence that some people can contract the virus without developing symptoms. The Duchess should be sleeping in a separate room, using a separate bathroom and maintaining social distancing within the house.”
