  • Tarek El Moussa kept on working with his ex-wife Christina Haack after their divorce
  • The setup “complicated” things between him and his wife, Heather Rae Young
  • An insider claimed “Flip or Flop” got canceled because of El Moussa’s love life

“Flip or Flop” got canceled because of the hosts’ complicated relationship, a new report has claimed.

HGTV recently announced that the home-improvement show would be wrapping up after its current 10th season without citing a real reason why. But a source has come out to claim that the hosts’ relationships outside of work led to the show’s cancellation.

The insider exclusively spoke with the New York Post Tuesday and cited the “complicated” love life of one of the hosts as the reason behind the surprising decision to terminate one of the network’s very successful shows.

Tarek El Moussa, 40, and Christina Haack, 38, tied the knot in 2009, but they broke up in 2016. The exes then finalized their divorce in January 2018 while agreeing to co-parent their two kids, 11-year-old daughter Taylor and 6-year-old son Brayden.

Even though they divorced, the former husband and wife agreed to continue working together on the show. Haack went on to marry Ant Anstead, 42, in December 2018. They welcomed their son, Hudson London, a year later, but they divorced in September 2020.

On the other hand, El Moussa married “Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae Young, 34, in October 2021. According to the Post’s source, staying on the show with Haack “complicated things” between El Moussa and Young.

“It’s not ideal to have two exes who share children working together so closely while their significant others are just standing by,” the tipster continued.

When asked for comment on the claim that El Moussa’s love life ultimately led to the cancellation of “Flip or Flop,” both reps for Haack and El Moussa did not immediately respond.

A separate source told People last week that their working environment on the show was becoming “too intimate” for the two of them, so they agreed to end it.

“Tarek and Christina are generally cordial. They're co-parenting and nothing gets in the way of that. The show was just too intimate of a setting at this point, and it was time to close that chapter,” the insider explained.

Meanwhile, when El Moussa bid his farewell to the show on Instagram, he teased a new project that fans would surely love. “I’m not going anywhere, and I can promise that you are going to love what comes next,” he wrote.

The real estate broker’s post led some fans to assume that he could be working on a new show, which could also feature his wife, Young.
