Ford (F) has recalled over 277,000 trucks and sedans under its namesake and Lincoln brands due to a rear camera visibility issue.

The recall affects certain 2017 to 2020 F-Series Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickup trucks and Lincoln Continental sedan models from the same years that are equipped with a 360-degree camera system.

The problem with the vehicles stems from the degradation of the camera's anti-reflective lens coating, which can lead to a foggy or cloudy rear-view camera image. This can reduce the driver's visibility behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The damage to the internal lens on the rear-view camera may be the result of the anti-reflective coating that is susceptible to exposure to ultraviolet radiation over time, the recall notice said.

To repair the safety issue, Ford dealers will replace the rear-view camera at no charge to impacted vehicle owners free of charge.

Ford said it expects to mail recall notices to affected Super Duty truck owners and Lincoln Continental owners on Sept. 12.

As of Wednesday premarket hours, shares of Ford were trading at $15.54, up 9 cents, or 0.58%.
