Ford (F) has ushered in its next generation of F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks, offering more towing capacity, payload, torque, and horsepower.

The 2023 Super Duty trucks have been redesigned for 2023, which Ford President Jim Farley said are driven by "the backbone of our communities and our economy."

"We poured every ounce of know-how and ingenuity we have into developing the truck of their dreams – smarter, more powerful, full of clever features and technology," he added.

Four engine options are included on the pickups, including a standard 6.8 L V8 gasoline powertrain and high-output 6.7 L Power Stroke V8 diesel. Engines in the trucks are mated to a 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission with a power take-off (PTO) connection to run a series of equipment such as boom lifts and plows. Four-wheel drive is now standard on the XLT Super Duty and higher models.

Ford has also integrated its Pro Power Onboard to allow for 2 kW of power to drive tools, lighting, and other electrical equipment through power outlets inside the truck and cargo box. A special outlet installation kit also allows for outlets to be installed on the chassis cabs.

Towing capacity and accessibility were also upgraded on the trucks with the addition of several driver-assist technologies, including an onboard scale and smart hitch, 360-degree trailer camera system, blind spot information system for fifth wheels and gooseneck hitches, and a tailgate down camera, to name a few.

"Our goal was to leave drivers with zero blind spots, even when towing the longest trailers," Andrew Kernahan, Ford Super Duty chief engineer, said.

New safety and security features were also equipped on the Super Duty pickups as well as embedded 5G capability through AT&T. A 5G Qualcomm Technologies modem can now provide Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices while supporting Ford's Power-Up software upgrades when in operation.

The exterior of the truck is available with seven different grille designs, C-clamp lighting, and LED headlamps on all trim levels. Aerodynamics was improved through longer side vents to reduce under-hood air pressure.

Ford is offering the F-Series Super Duty trucks with the STX, Sport, and Black Appearance packages, as well as an XL Off-Road option that is available on the F-250 and F-350 models and the Tremor Off-Road package, which is offered with a front-end lift, tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, and 35-inch Goodyear tires.

Ford said it will build the 2023 Super Duty truck at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville and Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, with sales starting in early 2023. Some features and trims won't be available until spring 2023, the automaker said.

Price tags on the trucks range from about $40,000 to nearly $100,000, according to CNBC.

As of Wednesday at 1:48 p.m. ET, shares of Ford were trading at $12.07, up 16 cents, or 1.37%.
