  • Federer is currently on a break post his knee surgery
  • AP Masters 1000 Indian Wells was canceled due to Coronavirus outbreak
  • Federer will also miss the entire clay season this year

Former tennis player Mardy Fish has trolled Roger Federer, in good humor, about his surgery schedule amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Coronavirus has been devastating in almost every sector, including the current tennis season. The upcoming ATP 1000 Masters event, Indian Wells, joined the club of being scrapped, leaving the players in dismay. The players, who were in the main draw, had already reached the United States. The only player, who escaped from all the hard work, which was eventually going into vain because of the cancelation of Indian Wells, was Federer.

In February, before the Dubai Open commenced, the 20-time Grand Slam champion broke the news of his knee surgery that was going to put him out of action for a few months. That meant, he was about to miss quite a few tournaments including the Indian Wells and the entire clay season.

While the entire tennis fraternity to trying to adjust to the forced changes in the schedule, former World No. 7 Fish chose to use a tinge of humor on social media with Federer being on the receiving end. Fish pointed out that Federer, who gets more or less everything accurate on the court, also got his surgery schedule exactly right.

“Roger even gets his surgery schedule correct. #Fedoracle,” Fish wrote on his official Twitter page.

While Federer still could lose quite a few points in the remainder of the tournaments that he is about to miss, the next event that looks to be in danger is the Miami Open, which was scheduled to begin right after Indian Wells.

Considering the extent of Coronavirus cases in Asia, the ATP Tour officials might cancel the Asian leg of the season as well. If that wasn’t awful enough, the Tokyo Olympics awaits to begin in August and looks highly in danger of being scrapped too.

As of now, Novak Djokovic is on the top of the ATP singles rankings ahead of Rafael Nadal with Federer at No. 4. Australian Open 2020 finalist Dominic Thiem currently holds the third spot.
