Epic Games has released the v6.20 update of “Fortnite” that launches the Fortnitemares limited time event in celebration of Halloween. The update also adds new skins, weapons and Cube Monsters to the battle royale map.

Fortnitemares Event

The v6.20 update to “Fortnite” battle royale has added a new cowboy skin called Deadfire Outfit. Unlike other skins available in the game, the Deadfire Outfit changes its appearance based on the player’s in-game progression. The skin has two styles and those will be unlocked depending on how much damage players deal with enemies and how long they last in a match. The new skin is also accompanied by the Shackled Stone back bling and the Dark Shard pickaxe that can be purchased from the in-game store, as pointed out by GameSpot.

The Fortnitemares event also includes a set of challenges that will reward players with the Dark Engine glider if they are able to complete all of them. There are a total of four challenges, including dancing on different gargoyles and destroying a number Cube Monsters.

The Cube Monsters are also a new addition to “Fortnite” battle royale. These creatures appear when Cube Fragments randomly spawn across the battle royale map. There are two types of Cube Montsers: fiends and brutes. When players kill Cube Monsters, they can drop some loot and grant a small amount of shield. Players can also destroy Cube Fragments to get some more loot and stop monsters from spawning.

New Weapons & Items

Epic Games removed the Revolver from “Fortnite” battle royale, but now it has added a new Six Shooter weapon in the v6.20 update. The new Six Shooter is available in uncommon (34 dmg), rare (36 dmg) and epic (38 dmg) variants. Players can hip fire the Six Shooter to shoot faster, but they can also aim down sight for a slower and more precise shooting.

The crossbow has also made its return to “Fortnite” battle royale and it’s now called the Fiend Hunter Crossbow. It will only be available in epic variant and it has a base damage of 40. This weapon also causes four times damage when it’s used against Cube Fiends. The Fiend Hunter Crossbow can be found from floor loot, chests and vending machines.

The Rocket Launcher has also been transformed into the Pumpkin Rocket Launcher as part the Halloween event. The Hand Cannon has also been rebalanced with higher damage to structures and enemies.

Changes To Playground Mode

“New Port-A grenades are now available in Vending Machines at the southern edge of Loot Lake. The Port-A-Challenge set includes the Building Challenge, Obstacle Course, and Firing Range minigames. There’s four of each type with varying difficulty,” Epic Games stated in the patch notes. “The Spiky Stadium makes a return with a brand new respawn system and Vending Machines to provide all the necessary grenades. Finally, there’s the Port-A-Pirateship mini-game.”

Changes In Gameplay

In the v6.20 update to “Fortnite” battle royale, Epic has decided to bring Glider Redeploy functionality to all game modes. This means that players will be able to redeploy their gliders when they fall from height of at least 10 meters, much like in the Soaring 50’s limited time mode.

This is a huge change in gameplay and could have a significant effect in how players strategize in the field. This also reduces the possibility of dying due to fall damage. This change doesn’t seem to be permanent because Epic Games said that this is still being tested and the feature might be removed based on user feedback.
