The mega-popular video game “Fortnite” got an update on Tuesday that added a new, limited-time game mode and an explosive new item. Players can enjoy the cowboy-themed Wild West mode and blow each other up with dynamite in the game’s 6.30 patch, according to developer Epic Games.

Wild West is a special mode that plays out exactly the same as the game’s regular last-man-standing battle royale variant. However, players can only find and use weapons that would be more appropriate in the recently released “Red Dead Redemption 2” than “Fortnite.”

That means modern assault rifles and grenades have been replaced by six-shooters and dynamite, among other era-appropriate weaponry. The powerful minigun was originally included, but Epic said this morning it had been removed from the mode, likely for balance reasons. Dynamite has also been “temporarily disabled” because it was causing games to crash.

The other big addition in this patch is a “ghost pistol” in the game’s cooperative “Save the World” mode. The new gun can shoot enemies through walls.

“Fortnite” is estimated to have made more than $300 million worldwide on iOS alone. The game recently unlocked cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox players.
