UPDATE: May 11, 6:32 p.m. EDT -- One day after the Season 1 finale of “Proven Innocent,” Fox has chosen to cancel the freshman legal drama, according to TVLine.

Original story: One mystery will be solved when part two of the Season 1 finale of “Proven Innocent” airs tonight, but a major one will still remain after the episode ends: Will the Fox show get canceled or will it get renewed for Season 2?

The jury’s still out on that one.

The network has yet to make a decision about the future of the freshman series, but with Fox’s 2019 Upfronts, which is where they’ll give a presentation on their new and returning shows, coming up on May 13, a ruling will likely be made in the next few days.

Unfortunately for “Proven Innocent” fans, based on ratings, it’s not looking good.

Out of Fox’s 16 scripted series, it’s currently sitting in last place in the 18-49 demo with a 0.40 rating, according to TV Series Finale. In the ranking of average viewers, with 2.035 million weekly, “Proven Innocent” only comes in above “Rel” and “The Gifted,” both of which have already been canceled.

Things are also not looking too good for the series because Fox canceled fellow freshman shows “The Passage” and “The Cool Kids” earlier today, according to Variety, and both of these were higher in the ratings than “Proven Innocent.” The network is likely holding its announcement about the legal drama’s future until after the Season 1 finale tonight.
