Samsung has finally unveiled a smartwatch designed for tech-savvy runners: the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour edition.

Made in partnership with athletic brand Under Armour, the new Galaxy Watch Active 2 UA edition is “designed for dedicated runners who want to take their fitness to the next level,” Samsung said in a press release. The device comes with features specific to the model, and will be able to do more than what the standard 40 and 44mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 can do.

Real-time feedback

First, the Under Armour edition will help wearers achieve better strides and maintain a steady pace as they run to meet their designated fitness goals.

The Under Armour edition will allow users to set the running pace they want, as well as their running distance and duration. The watch will then help users achieve these using audio cues and haptic feedback. The watch will also provide users with post-workout feedback, including in-depth form analyses and coaching tips, via their smartphones.

MapMyRun Premium membership

Next, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour edition comes with MapMyRun Premium Membership free for six months. This will give users access to training plans that can help them achieve their desired fitness goals. Premium membership depends on the feature’s availability in country, however.

By pairing the watch with the Galaxy Buds, it can provide wearers with cues according to the training plans they choose. Their watches will also provide them with detailed workout reports, as well as tips they can use on their next run.

Connects with UA HOVR shoes

Lastly, unlike other models, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 UA edition can be connected to Under Armour’s connected footwear, the HOVR shoes.

By pairing the watch with Under Armour’s HOVR shoes, it will be able to monitor its wearer’s running form and performance more accurately. This will then result to even more precise coaching tips that will help wearers run at their best.

Availability

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour edition comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes and features aluminum bodies. It will be available in the U.S. in fall of 2019.
