Deputies in Georgia have rescued a woman who was severely beaten and kept naked in a dog cage inside a mobile home. At least five people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Richmond County deputies responded Tuesday night to a complaint by a former occupant of the Augusta mobile home who tipped off the cops that a woman was being held in the residence against her will, WRDW reported.

The complainant learned about the woman when he went to the residence on Nellie Drive to pick up some things he had left. Upon entering the house, he noticed an unknown light brown-skinned woman, naked, severely beaten and locked in a dog cage, an incident report by deputies indicated, as per KYFR-TV. The woman reportedly asked the man for help.

When deputies reached the residence to investigate the situation at around 10:20 p.m., they found an injured naked woman along with a dog cage inside the mobile home. The victim was initially reluctant to come out of the bedroom when the deputies located her.

When she finally exited the room, deputies saw several injuries to her face, including a severely swollen and bruised eye. She was taken to a hospital for medical care.

"The unknown female also appeared to be injured and emotionally distraught at this time as well," deputies wrote in the incident report, according to the outlet.

While the identity of the victim was not revealed by the authorities, she was reported to be 20 years old.

Cops also found "human and animal feces" in different rooms of the house.

The five people who were arrested in the case were identified as Shawna Powell, 32, Anjelika Figueroa, 29, DeMichael Dawson, 24, Dawson Weston, 19, and Savannah Piazzi, 18.

Shawna Powell reportedly told the complainant that the victim "stole a bunch of stuff" from her. She said she planned on keeping the woman as her "sex slave" and was going to "pimp her out until she pays it off."

The complainant also informed deputies that he heard from one of the accused that "multiple unknown individuals were en route to have their way with her."

All five arrested were charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime. Dawson was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
