“The Fosters” is over, but Callie and Mariana’s stories will continue. Their spinoff “Good Trouble” is already filming, and they have a new guest star on set, Kira Kosarin.

Fans who follow leading ladies Cierra Ramirez (Mariana) and Maia Mitchell (Callie) on social media may have noticed the “Thundermans” actress in their Instagram stories this week. The actresses were getting some exercise by working out between takes. However, Kosarin wasn’t just visiting friends on set. International Business Times has received confirmation that she will guest star on “Good Trouble” next year.

Freeform confirmed that Kosarin will be playing Aria, “a free-spirited young woman who visits a resident at The Coterie.” She’ll be in one episode of the first season.

The Coterie is Callie and Mariana’s Los Angeles apartment complex. Aria could be visiting one of the many other new faces on the Freeform drama. There’s politically aware graphic designer Gael (Tommy Martinez), former foster kid Malika (Zuri Adele), teacher Davia (Emma Hunton) and complex manager Alice (Sherry Cola). It sounds like the girls will have plenty of potential new friends.

Don’t worry, there will be a few familiar faces on the new drama too. “The Fosters” ended last month after five seasons with many of the Adams Foster kids ending up in Los Angeles. Jude felt alone at UCLA, so Callie decided to take a clerkship with the conservative Judge Wilson (Roger Bart). Similarly, Mariana got a job offer in L.A. and Brandon already moved to the City of Angels to work on music in the time jump. It’s safe to assume the brothers will pop in on the new spinoff.

“Good Trouble” will follow Callie and Marianna as twenty-somethings in Los Angeles. It’s is perfect for Freeform’s focus on “becomers,” people transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. It joins “The Bold Type” and “Alone Together” as one of Freeform’s shows about post-college young adults.

Production on “Good Trouble” began in June, just days after “The Fosters” series finale aired, but Freeform has not announced a premiere date yet. Expect it to arrive sometime in 2019.
