Director Joe Russo, who attended the premiere of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" on Tuesday, opened up about the highly anticipated Netflix movie "The Gray Man," featuring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

The 50-year-old director, who is helming "The Gray Man" with his brother Anthony Russo, revealed that the movie is slated to release in 2022 summer.

"We're working on The Gray Man right now with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, slated for a release this summer," the director told Variety, during the red-carpet appearance. "We're hard at work at editorial on that."

"I think we'll probably lock picture on that sometime in February," he added. "We got some big VFX to work on in it. So, scoring, VFX all take place until we release it."

The director also explained that "The Gray Man" is going to be a "big gigantic action film" and called it a "throwback action movie."

Russo said the star-studded movie will be intense and it consists of great acting talents. Speaking about his love for movies, the director noted that he and his brother grew up watching movies and they used to geek out about it.

Russo said his intention was to make the audience feel connected to the material and enjoy the larger-than-life action scenes.

Besides directing the movie, the Russo brothers are also serving as producers in the movie, along with Mike Larocca. The screenplay is penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It is based on author Mark Greaney's novel of the same name, which was released in 2009.

The movie is made on a huge budget of $200 million. After "Avengers: Endgame," this will be the first big movie by the Russo brothers. The director duo released "Cherry," featuring Tom Holland, earlier this year.

Before "The Gray Man" release, the Russo brothers will drop a miniseries, titled "Citadel," which is currently under post-production. The series stars Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra, Stanley Tucci, Roland Møller and Osy Ikhile.

Evans will be next seen in the movies "Lightyear," "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Bermuda." Gosling will appear in "The Actor" and "Wolfman."
