Katie and Jeremy cover a story together in the next episode of “Great News.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 6 of the NBC series, Jeremy (Reid Scott) invites Katie (Briga Heelan) to do some “real reporting” and go on a stakeout with him. Suspicious of Jeremy’s real motive, Carol (Andrea Martin) kidnaps Greg (Adam Campbell) to join her stake out the stakeout. The two then discover that it may not be all business between Katie and Jeremy.

Katie met Jeremy for the first time at the American Journalism Awards in Season 2, episode 4. Although Jeremy looked down at Katie for working in cable news during their first meeting, the handsome New York Times reporter will develop feelings for Katie when they meet again.

“Over the course of a couple episodes, they get close and start dating,” series creator Tracey Wigfield revealed to Variety in September.

Katie and Jeremy’s romance is expected to impact the will-they-won’t-they relationship between Katie and Greg, who came so close to kissing each other in the Season 1 finale. But Wigfield assured Katie and Greg shippers that they have nothing to worry about.

“The Katie-Greg stuff is definitely in the background,” Wigfield told Entertainment Weekly. “Hopefully it will come to a head in some exciting way towards the later part of the season.”

Elsewhere in episode 6, Chuck (John Michael Higgins) meets Portia’s (Nicole Richie) football player fiancé, Carvell (Rashad Jennings), and forms an unlikely friendship with him.

The impending introduction of Portia’s fiancé was first announced by Wigfield during an interview with TV Guide last August. At the time, Wigfield said that Portia’s fiancé will make friends with her fellow “The Breakdown” news anchor, Chuck, as both guys share interesting similarities.

Wigfield, who also plays meteorologist Beth on the show, said that Portia’s fiancé strikes up an “epic bromance” with Chuck after the athlete is suspended from football and finds himself in a “lonely, vulnerable place.” Because Chuck is also “kind of a lonely successful man aging out of his field,” the news anchor quickly establishes a connection with the football player.

“Great News” Season 2, episode 6, titled “Pool Show,” airs on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
