Shonda Rhimes, mastermind behind the hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” previously revealed during the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour that Season 12 of the hit series would have a “much lighter tone” following Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) heartbreaking death. But the showrunner never mentioned anything about the copious hookups that were set to take place in the fall!

During an interview with People magazine, Jason George, who plays Dr. Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) hunky husband Dr. Ben Warren, dished that the upcoming installment of “Grey’s Anatomy” is going to be double the sexy.

“[The writers] hit reboot almost,” the actor divulged during the Television Academy’s Dynamic & Diverse Emmy cocktail party in Beverly Hills on Thursday. “There’s a lot of things that make [Season 12] feel brand new, but it has that lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place. And the sexy sexy is back on.”

So, what exactly does that mean? Well, according to the actor, viewers should anticipate to see a few of their favorite characters locking lips throughout Season 12 of the hit ABC drama.

“There are a lot of people who are not in couples now and are falling into bed. Everyone’s getting a little bit of loving,” he teased.

A few of Grey Sloan’s hottest surgeons who will be facing Season 12 with a single status and an open mind are Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). The former couple are said to “definitely” have “exciting” new romances lined up for them in the forthcoming season.

Rhimes also revealed that both of Mer’s (Ellen Pompeo) sisters, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary), will find themselves dipping their toes into the dating pool, too. But don't get too excited Owelia shippers. Apparently Amelia and Owen (Kevin McKidd) will enter Season 12 as just "friends," despite their Season 11 finale make out session.

"They are officially on the books 'friends' at this point, but they are certainly not buddies [though] their pheromones would maybe disagree with their official relationship status," she told the Hollywood Reporter, adding that Amelia "deserves a little bit of happy."

Meanwhile, it’s currently up in the air whether April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) will live happily ever after.

“They are in a difficult spot now,” Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly, explaining that April decided to return to the army against Jackson's wishes. But Rhimes revealed during the TCA summer press tour that just because April opted to go overseas doesn't mean Japril’s relationship is over. “April’s really changed and she’s really done this thing that’s not necessarily the best thing for their marriage and Jackson’s not happy about it. Does that mean it’s over? And does she accept that it’s over?”

Fans can watch the steamy romances go down when “Grey’s Anatomy” returns to ABC on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. EDT.
