“Grey’s Anatomy” has no shortage of characters, but there will be fewer familiar faces walking around Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital this fall. These actresses have decided not to return to the ABC series in Season 14.

Marika Dominczyk: After playing Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) new love interest, it seemed like Eliza Minnick would stay around for a while. However, her character was fired when viewers last saw her. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) decided that she didn’t like Minnick’s methods after all. It probably didn’t help that she forgot about Edwards in the chaos of the fire.

Though she was still romantically involved with Arizona, it looks like the two will likely breakup off screen. TVLine reports that Marika Dominczyk won’t return for “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14, and Jessica Capshaw teased that there will not be much closure for Arizona.

“I think I can safely tell you that she leaves,” Capshaw told E! Online. “She’s peace out. She’s gone. She leaves Arizona high and dry after all that super love talk.”

Jerrika Hinton: After playing Stephanie Edwards for five seasons, Hinton announced her exit at the end of last season. The character announced she’d be leaving Grey-Sloan while getting her severe burns treated. The experience made Edwards realize that she needed to spend some time outside of hospitals. Meanwhile, Hinton is working on a new show, Alan Ball’s “Here, Now.”

“I do love her completion,” Hinton told the Hollywood Reporter in May. “For me, it’s the natural conclusion for what has been a journey of self-exploration. … Her epiphany is the hero’s journey. It’s not just setting a rapist on fire and saving this little kid; it’s her fully and finally seeing her life for what it is and walking a different and hopefully better path. That’s a hero’s journey.”

Bridget Regan: Flashbacks introduced audiences to Megan, Rigg’s (Martin Henderson) wife and Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) sister. However, she won’t have the same face when she returns. Megan will be played by Abigail Spencer in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14, Variety reports. Regan’s commitments to TNT’s “The Last Ship” (which stars “Grey’s” alum Eric Dane) prevented her from reprising the role in Season 13.

While “Grey’s Anatomy” is losing some actors, it’s not like there will be any less drama. Megan’s return from the dead should provide some emotional story lines, especially since Riggs and Meredith finally started admitting their feelings for each other just before her arrival. Elsewhere, Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) ex-husband Paul (Matthew Morrison) will return too. Let’s hope Alex (Justin Chambers) doesn’t fulfill any of his fantasies about assaulting him. That’s not the end of the returning exes, though.

Teddy (Kim Raver), Owen’s ex who left in 2012, will return, but it isn’t clear in what capacity. With Riggs and Maggie (Kelly McCreary), Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital seems to have their fair share of cardiac surgeons. It’s possible her return will be connected to Megan’s recovery after being a prisoner of war.

“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 premieres Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC with a two-hour episode.
