A good old-fashioned story about someone pretending to be someone else to ease an awkward family gathering is on tap with the newest Lifetime holiday movie, “Grounded for Christmas,” starring Julianna Guill and Corey Sevier.

Guill is making her Lifetime debut with this film and is also a newcomer when it comes to holiday films overall. While “The Resident” star did have a role in the 2015 film “Christmas Eve,” she hasn’t done too many other holiday-themed films. Her co-star, however, is a full-time vet when it comes to the holiday movie genre. Not only has he had roles in UPtv’s “The Tree That Saved Christmas” and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries “Northern Lights of Christmas,” but he’s also worked with Lifetime on “A Star for Christmas” and “Four Christmases and a Wedding.” He is also pulling double duty on the network this year with a starring role in their upcoming flick, “Matchmaker Christmas.”

So what might Guill’s first outing have in store for her with this holiday movie vet by her side? Let’s find out.

“When a winter storm hits Cleveland and grounds flights, the nearby hotels quickly fill up with stranded travelers. Nina (Guill), a pilot, reluctantly agrees to let her arrogant but charming fellow pilot, Brady (Sevier), stay at her nearby parents’ home,” a synopsis for the film reads. “But when they discover her family is hosting a tree trimming party that night and that her ex will be there, Brady pretends to be her boyfriend to help her out.”

However, what is supposed to only be a one-night thing quickly turns into something more, as the pair find themselves continually stranded there and forced to keep up the ruse. Of course, that may not be a bad thing in the end either.

“When the snowstorm continues, their ruse snowballs as Nina and Brady are stuck attending holiday events together,” the synopsis continues. “But as Christmas nears, these two opposites begin to realize the best gift they could ever receive, is perhaps, each other.”

Cheryl Ladd (“The Christmas Contract,” “Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups”) and Paula Brancati (“Degrassi: The Next Generation,” “Desperately Seeking Santa”) also star.

“Grounded for Christmas” airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
