'Haikyuu!!' Season 4 episode 7 recap

The episode starts off from Nishinoya’s splendid Rolling Thunder shot. However, Kageyama yells at him. He tells Nishinoya that he is in the way. Nishinoya and other teammates are shocked. “What’d you just say?” Nishinoya asks him. He is mad at him.

Kageyama tells him that he was blocking the back row attacker’s approach. This revelation surprises not only Nishinoya but others. They are impressed that Kageyama could observe this in the middle of an ongoing game. Tanaka reminds Kageyama that he could have used a better way to convey his message. But Kageyama is not in a mood for a lecture from a fellow team member.

During the game, his team members feel that something’s up with him and he is acting scarier than usual. Meanwhile, Date Tech’s blocking abilities are stellar as they counter every shot from Karasuno’s. Date Tech has been practicing harder ever since they heard that they were going up against Karasuno.

Throughout the first half of the episode, Kageyama snaps at other team members. Later, he realizes that he is losing it which is not good for the team.

During the episode, Kageyama adjusts to accommodate the spikers’ poor habits. But later he decides to force them to hit from a higher contact point instead. Tanaka manages to jump and Kageyama tells him that he can indeed fly. Hinata warns Kageyama against egging Tsukki. Hinata reminds Kageyama that he should remember that deep down he is the king.

Towards the end of the episode, it becomes clear that Date Tech’s block technique is unmatchable. They might turn out to be one of the most feared teams.

“Haikyu!!” Season 4 episode 8 is titled “Challenger.” This episode will air Friday, Feb. 28, 2020.
