Oh, the irony.

A Harold Camping follower drowned minutes after earthquakes were set to convulse the planet as he swam towards what he believed would be divine redemption.

The San Jose Mercury News reported that Victor Frasno of Antioch, California demanded on Saturday night to return to the reservoir where he had spent the day discussing spirituality with his brother and sister-in-law. When they obliged and drove back, he repeatedly plunged into the dark body of water while quoting scripture, ultimately drowning despite attempts to dissuade him.

Detective Holly Sontag said Frasno had no direct ties to Camping's Family Radio but asserted that talk of the imminent apocalypse likely influenced Frasno.

I believe it probably had something to do with the rapture because this wasn't his normal behavior, Sontag told the Mercury News.
