  • Manchester United is said to be still interested in signing Harry Kane
  • Roy Keane and Ashley Cole want Kane to leave Tottenham for a winning team
  • An English Premier League legend thinks Spurs boss Jose Mourinho can still build a team even without the English striker

Some English Premier League legends think Tottenham’s Harry Kane will finally win a trophy if he joins another team.

This season has been another disappointment for Tottenham as the team has let its Premier League and UEFA Champions League title hopes slip away once again.

Ironically, the Spurs have arguably the best player in England in Kane, who is now linked to a move away from Tottenham.

Kane’s exceptional form this season has got a number of clubs keeping tabs on him, including Manchester United. Apparently, the Red Devils have retained a “long-standing admiration” for him and could be plotting a move for the England national team captain this summer, Manchester Evening News reported.

While nothing has been concrete yet as to what awaits for Kane, who has a contract with Tottenham until 2024, famed soccer pundits Roy Keane and Ashley Cole weighed in on the trophy-less striker.

According to Keane, it would be best for Kane to part ways with Tottenham and join a team that can hand him the silverware.

"He's a professional,” Keane said of Kane on ITV Sport. “If you're a top player you want to win trophies. It's a big few months coming up for Tottenham, the League Cup final [against Manchester City], can they get in the top four? Huge question marks.”

"Will that influence him? He's obviously under contract, Tottenham will have a lot to say about it,” the former Red Devil added. "But if you're in his shoes and it comes to the summer, I think the guy has to move on to really win the big prizes. He's not going to do it at Tottenham."

Cole, on the other hand, agreed and suggested that Kane isn’t maximizing his potential to win in a team like Tottenham.

"Every time I hear him, he seems happy, but under the surface, he wants to win as well. Will he win at Tottenham? I don't think so,” Cole barged in. "It's going to be interesting for him, whether he stays or goes, but it's going to be a very, very big decision for him."

Pat Nevin is another Premier League legend-turned-analyst that has been closely watching Tottenham this season.

As per Nevin, Jose Mourinho could still build a competitive Spurs team even without Kane on it.

“What if Harry [Kane] does leave and [Mourinho] he had the money and he was allowed to get what he thought is the right stuff in?” Nevin questioned last week. “That would be intriguing. That would be very interesting indeed.”

“I would be very intrigued because [Mourinho] he is due a kind of real period of time with a team where he can really build,” he added. “We know he is capable of doing it, well he was and we suspect might still be. We won’t know until he gets that time stroke money.”
