  • Jose Mourinho is rumored to likely lose his job as Tottenham manager if he fails to win a trophy this season
  • A pundit thinks Mourinho can still make Tottenham good even without Harry Kane
  • Kane expressed his disappointment over Tottenham's attitude

Jose Mourinho would be able to form a talent-stacked team in Tottenham even without Harry Kane if given the means, one Premier League legend has suggested.

Tottenham is likely to let its English Premier League title hopes slip away again this season, and the club being open to sacking Mourinho if he fails to bring home the EFL trophy has become the narrative these past few days.

Apparent frustrations in Tottenham eventually resulted in Kane being linked to a departure. While it would be a no-brainer that the Spurs will deteriorate without their talisman, Premier League legend and pundit Pat Nevin thinks Mourinho only needs “money” and the renowned manager may still be able to build a solid team.

“What if Harry [Kane] does leave and [Mourinho] he had the money and he was allowed to get what he thought is the right stuff in?” Nevin said on “Off the Ball.” “That would be intriguing. That would be very interesting indeed.”

“It is not the way football usually works,” he continued. “It usually works with if you don’t get top four or a trophy, then you get hoofed. But I would be very intrigued because [Mourinho] he is due a kind of real period of time with a team where he can really build. We know he is capable of doing it, well he was and we suspect might still be. We won’t know until he gets that time stroke money.”

Kane has been one of the most consistent performers in Tottenham this season, possibly even the only one. To date, the English striker has already bagged a total of 20 goals in 32 matches across all competitions.

Though some reports state that Kane has grown tired of losing at Tottenham, all of it has been deemed rumors. However, following the devastating one-point aggregation loss to Dinamo Zagreb in leg 2 of the Europa League, the 27-year-old finally expressed his disappointment.

"We know we dropped below our standards and the worst part of that is probably our attitude, in terms of how were on the pitch," Kane told Tottenham’s official website. "You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.”

"We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that,” he continued. "It’s a shame because we were on a good run before that.”
