When Henry Golding took to the CinemaCon stage last week to promote his upcoming holiday movie “Last Christmas,” his co-star Emilia Clarke was noticeably absent. The actor said his on-screen love interest was too busy “tending to her dragons” to attend the Las Vegas event as it occurred at the same time she was promoting the final season of her TV series “Game of Thrones.”

Post-show, Golding, who received the Male Star of Tomorrow CinemaCon award, revealed if ever discussed the HBO series with the actress behind-the-scenes while filming “Last Christmas.”

“I tried to draw it out of her,” Golding told International Business Times. Unsurprisingly, Golding, 32, said it was hard to get information out of Clarke, who is finishing out the show’s eighth season as character Daenerys Targyn. “She’s so tightlipped about ‘Game Of Thrones,’” he added.

While Golding did not have the company of Clarke at CinemaCon to promote their upcoming film, he said he was understanding of her absence. “Emilia is one of the best human beings to be able to share a scene with. She’s so giving, she’s fantastic,” Golding told IBT.

“I know she would have love to have been here, but, of course, 10 years of your life in an amazing series like that it’s a big deal for her so we’re super proud of her and we wish her the best of luck.”

When asked by a different outlet if Clarke ever told him if her “GOT” character dies, Golding was quick to share a laugh and say, “What are you talking about?”
