House of Cards
Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) and Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) are cooking up something evil for “House of Cards” Season 5. Netflix

If you think President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is terrifying, think again. His wife Claire (Robin Wright), who is also a vice presidential nominee, is just as formidable, if not more, than the ambitious politician of “House of Cards.”

The Netflix show just dropped another teaser for Season 5, with Claire taking the spotlight and addressing the nation. “I’ve been meaning to talk with you,” she begins. “It’s terrifying, isn’t it? Tell us what you see.”

Since Season 4 ended with the Underwoods watching while terrorists killed an American citizen live on camera, Claire now urged the people to conduct strict surveillance, as well as mistrust and fear their neighbors and peers. If they see anything suspicious, she told them not to hesitate in ringing up the government.

“If anything in your environment strikes you as a bit odd or a bit off, pick up the phone because there’s a lot of noise out there these days,” she continues. “We’re going to need to work together, watch out for each other, and yes, watch each other, to keep us all safe and sound. Tell us what you see.”

In the previous trailer for the upcoming season, Frank can be heard talking to his wife while several scenes play out simultaneously. “The American people don’t know what’s best for them,” he tells her. ”I do. I know exactly what they need.”

The brief scenes showed the return of several major characters, including Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman), Tom Yates (Paul Sparks) and Catherine Durant (Jayne Atkinson).

“They’re like little children, Claire,” Frank continues in his spiel. “We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouths. Teach them right from wrong. Tell what to think and how to feel and what to want. They even need help writing their wildest dreams. Crafting their worst fears. Lucky for them, they have me. They have you.”

It seemed like Frank is planning to lead America not just today, but in the years to come as he promises to hold office for six terms. “Underwood, 2016. 2020. 2024. 2028. 2032. 2036. One nation, Underwood,” he says.

But the Underwoods’ quest for dominance will be rocked by a certain reporter who was killed off during Season 2. Frank pushed Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) to her death without a second thought during the premiere, and fans have not yet gotten over her sudden demise. However, it looks like Zoe is making a big comeback in Season 5. The show shared on its Twitter account a video showing Zoe talking on her mobile phone while looking out a car window.

The short video sent fans into a tizzy. “Wait. What?! Thought she was dead as [expletive]?!?!” one fan wrote. “I thought Frank had shoved her under a train…!!” said another viewer.

“No way Zoe is alive. Something she did must be coming back to bite Frank in the [behind],” wrote one fan. Another theorized Zoe could have a twin sister. Others simply complained of the long wait they would have to endure before getting answers about Zoe’s true status.

“House of Cards” Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on May 30.
