House of Cards
Kevin Spacey will reprise his role as President Frank Underwood in “House of Cards” Season 5. Netflix

It will still be a couple of more months before “House of Cards” Season 5 returns to the small screen, but fans are already excited for it. The show is even dropping a lot of teasers on its Twitter page, and in one, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) was seen picking up a folded paper crane from the floor. Is there a secret message inside? Does the crane symbolize anything? Or is the show taking its cues from “Prison Break”?

These are the things running through fans’ minds after seeing it. “Is that something related to ‘Prison Break’???” a curious fan questioned. Another weighed in: “Heavy rain? The origami killer?”

“Waiting has been too long,” an exasperated fan wrote.

Of course, nothing got fans into a crazy frenzy more than a teaser that was dropped showing Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara), a character who was killed off in Season 2, talking on her mobile phone while looking out a car window.

Is Zoe’s death nothing more than a fabrication? Or is her ghost haunting her former lover and killer, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey)? Some fans even speculated that it might be Zoe’s twin seeking revenge for her death.

For Season 5, Spacey will be reprising his role as President Frank Underwood, Robin Wright as First Lady Claire Underwood, Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Paul Sparks as Thomas Yates and Neve Campbell as political consultant LeAnn Harvey.

There will be new players in the series as well, with Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott booking “major roles” next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While details of their roles are still being kept a secret for now, it has already been confirmed that they will both be featured heavily in the new season.

“House of Cards” Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on May 30, 2017.
