It looks like Cady Heron is getting another makeover. Broadway’s “Mean Girls” musical has cast Sabrina Carpenter to play the iconic lead role.

The pop-singer/actress who was known as a young teen for her role in Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World,” which aired from 2014 to 2017, is making her mark in theater. The 20-year-old will be playing the role of Cady from March 10 through June 7, People reported.

The “Mean Girls” musical is based on Tina Fey’s 2004 classic comedy, “Mean Girls” and officially opened on Broadway in April 2018. Carpenter is replacing the current (and original) Cady Heron, played by Erika Henningsen, who is leaving the show to star in the new musical, “Flying Over Sunset.”

Playing Cady Heron has been a dream of Carpenter’s for a while now. She not only tweeted her excitement on landing the role and told People, “ I don’t think it’s hit me yet, because I definitely have been dreaming of this in a big way since I was a little girl. I always knew that one day I wanted to do it, I just didn’t know when it would happen. And I didn’t expect it either, at this point in my life, so I’m just so honored by it all.”

For those hoping to catch a glimpse of Carpenter, don’t plan on attending a matinee show on Wednesday or Saturday. According to the official “Mean Girls” musical site, Carpenter will be performing in all evening shows but will not perform in matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the first part of her 14-week run. The second half of her run will again see her missing Wednesday matinee performances, as well as Sunday evenings.

Those interested in buying tickets to the shows can do so here.

This will be Carpenter’s Broadway debut and is another chance for her to prove herself in the music industry following the release of her 2019 EP "Singular: Act II," which featured the singles "Pushing 20," "Exhale" and "In My Bed."
