Princess Diana reportedly felt oppressed during her honeymoon with Prince Charles in Balmoral. However, she was able to hide this from the photographers that came by to take official photos of the couple.

In the Netflix documentary “The Story of Diana,” royal photographer Jane Fincher recalled Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ photocall during their honeymoon.

“The particular moment I remember when they looked very, very romantic – he was sort of, completely smitten by her – was when they were walking in the heather by the river. They just looked so in love and he was gazing at her, he kept picking up her hand and kissing it, just like a Prince Charming would,” she said.

Fincher went on to say that Princess Diana placed her head over Prince Charles’ shoulder a couple of times, and it was so romantic. And during their honeymoon interview, Princess Diana said that Balmoral was a lovely and beautiful place. However, the late princess may not have been completely truthful.

Royal historian Sally Bedell Smith said that Princess Diana seemed to be having a great time in Balmoral, but she really couldn’t stand the place. The source said that the Princess of Wales felt oppressed and hemmed in while she was there.

Tina Brown, the author of “The Diana Chronicles,” echoed what Smith said. According to Brown, the formality of Balmoral’s intractable routine made Princess Diana desperate.

Meanwhile, another shocking thing happened while Princess Diana and Prince Charles were on a honeymoon. Smith said that the mom of two began to obsess about her husband after she was Prince Charles wearing the cufflinks that Camilla gave to him.

During their honeymoon, all Princess Diana was to worry whether or not Prince Charles was telling her the truth. In the end, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage also fell apart, and they announced their separation in 1992. In 1996, they finalized their divorce, and Princess Diana died one year later.
