Princess Diana made had an innocent wish before she tied the knot with Prince Charles.

In the Channel 5 documentary “Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding,” former Royal Navy officer Jeff Dykes revealed that he had a conversation with the Princess of Wales four days before her royal wedding. Princess Diana and Dyke sat beside each other, and the latter described the late royal as coy and shy.

“The Royal Marine band struck up, ‘I’m getting married in the morning.’ And she was all coy and curled up looking all over the place. Diana wanted to know whether we would be watching the wedding… To which we said, ‘Yes, you bet we will be watching the wedding…’ And she said, ‘Well, I wish I could find somebody who wasn’t going to watch the wedding,’” Dyke said.

According to the former Royal Navy officer, the mom of two’s comment proved that she was indeed very young when she married Prince Charles. Princess Diana started dating Prince Charles when she was just 19 years old, and they tied the knot when she was 20 years old. Prince Charles, on the other hand, was 30.

Dyke also said that very early on in the couple’s relationship, it seemed as though Prince Charles and Princess Diana were in love but in an old-fashioned way. And he described the couple’s royal wedding as a wonderful time.

But it didn’t take long before the public found out that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ nuptials was not a fairytale. Prince Charles cheated on Princess Diana with Camilla Parker Bowles.

During their engagement interview, Prince Charles gave hints that he didn’t really love his future wife after the interviewer asked them if they were in love. Instead of saying yes, the future King said, “whatever love means.”

And while talking to his pals, Prince Charles declared that he didn’t really love Princess Diana.
