Princess Diana was a very hands-on mom, and she was also quite protective of her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

When the royal siblings were much younger, the Princess of Wales encouraged them to never hold toy guns in public because they might be photographed with it. While speaking with Daily Mail, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that the late royal explained to her boys why they shouldn’t play with toy guns in public.

“She said the boys loved Scotland but she didn’t like them being photographed with a gun in their hands. She said, ‘Remember, there’s always someone in a high-rise flat who doesn’t want to see you shoot a Bambi,’” Seward said.

According to the royal author, Prince Charles’ ex-wife went on to say that she’s not anti-shooting but she’s just not interested in participating in the activity at that time. But her sons, who have attended the royal family’s Boxing Day shoot, enjoyed the activity.

And since the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex loved to go shooting, Princess Diana dubbed her sons as “Killer Wales.” Seward’s revelation came after reports also swirled that Camilla Parker Bowles used the activity to spend time with Prince Charles.

Princess Diana reportedly became suspicious of Prince Charles and Camilla’s relationship after the latter asked her if she goes hunting with the future king. Princess Diana told Camilla that she’s won’t participate in the event, and the Duchess of Cornwall decided to step in.

In the book “Diana: In Her Own Words,” royal biographer Andrew Morton said that Princess Diana’s suspicion grew during a meeting where Prince Charles’ trip to Australia and New Zealand were being finalized.

“Camilla kept asking if Diana was going to hunt when she moved to Highgrove. Nonplussed by such an odd question, Diana replied in the negative… The relief on Camilla’s face was clear… Diana later realized that Camilla saw Charles’ love of hunting as a conduit to maintaining her own relationship with him,” Morton said.
