KEY POINTS

  • The Buffalo Bills have extended wide receiver Stefon Diggs through the 2026 NFL season
  • Diggs is putting up career-high numbers in the past two seasons with the Bills
  • The addition of Von Miller has pushed them to become Super Bowl favorites this year

The Buffalo Bills are going for all the marbles this season after signing wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a lucrative four-year contract.

NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news that the Bills had re-signed Diggs to the tune of $104 million, with a guaranteed take-home of $70 million which will see him stay with the franchise until 2026.

To most football fans, Diggs will forever be remembered as the man who made the “Minneapolis Miracle” happen, knocking out the New Orleans Saints to fuel the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC Championship appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2017.

However, Diggs would find himself in Buffalo for the 2020-21 season after things soured between him and the Vikings just two years after signing a five-year extension in Minnesota.

In his first season with the Bills, Diggs would go on to set career-highs in receptions (127) and yards (1,535) while adding eight touchdowns which led to his first-ever All-Pro selection and Pro Bowl appearance.

Diggs then had his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season with the Bills this past year and racking up a career-high 10 touchdowns.

During this time, the Virginia native also had the most receiving yards versus press coverage with 2,131 yards, 44 more than the Los Angeles Rams’ Cooper Kupp.

Quarterback Josh Allen will certainly be happy to hear that his No. 1 receiver is staying on for the long run as they make a push for their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994.

Diggs’ ability to make plays after catching the ball plus his route-running skills, coupled with Allen’s accurate throws, has made him one of the league’s best receivers.

Former Green Bay Packer linebacker A.J. Hawk also acknowledged how important Diggs would be to the Bills’ Super Bowl hopes.

“Everyone is picking them to win the Super Bowl, right? Like, they have the best odds on most [oddsmakers] you look at, so I think they understand the time they’re in,” Hawk said during an episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

Locking up their best receiver ensures that the Bills will have the services of Diggs for a very long time and will overlap with No. 2 receiver Gabriel Davis hitting his stride as he enters his third NFL season.

With Diggs’ extension plus the signing of two-time Super Bowl winner Von Miller earlier this offseason, the Bills have every right to call themselves a contender as things definitely look like they are all falling into place.
