Apple has launched its single-sign on feature for iOS, which allows users to enter their TV provider username and password once to get all content access across different video apps included in their subscriptions.

Apple’s single sign-on is a big step towards making logins and passwords less of a hassle. The initial rollout of single sign-on original was available with four TV providers: Dish, GVTC Communications, Hotwire and Sling TV. According to Apple’s single sign-on Support Page, account from CenturyLink Prism, DirecTV, GTA, Hawaiian Telcom and MetroCast can be used to access the feature.

It’s pretty much the same process on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 10 or later. Go to Settings - TV Provider and select a participating TV service and sign in with your account information. Users who sign in from an iOS device linked to iCloud will see their TV Provider data sync to devices using the same Apple ID.

Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue announced Apple’s new single sign-on feature at the WorldWide Developers Conference in June. “The future of TV is apps, and Siri on Apple TV has changed the way we interact with our television and these expanded features will continue to deliver viewers what they want to watch even faster,” Cue said in June.
