  • Apple introduced a slew of improvements to the iPhone user experience via iOS 14
  • These improvements include a new "hide" feature
  • The new feature protects photos that users deem private

Apple has added a slew of enhancements and new features to iOS 14 so that it can offer users the best iPhone experience they can have yet. One of these is the new “hide” feature that gives users another layer of protection for photos and albums.

The new “hide” feature in iOS 14 helps iPhone users enjoy their privacy even when they're in public places. Users, for example, might want to look at the photos they have on their device's camera roll. The ability to hide some photos allows them to scroll through their collection without having to worry about random people looking at their iPhone screens and seeing some embarrassing pictures.

It's easy to use the new hide feature. Here's how to hide a photo in iOS 14:

  • First, users will need to launch Photos, then look for a photo they want to hide and tap on it. Alternatively, users can tap on Select at the top-right corner and select several photos they wish to hide.
  • Next, users should scroll down and tap on Hide, then confirm the action by tapping on Hide Photo.

The hidden photo will no longer be displayed on the camera roll. Users can view hidden photos by accessing the Hidden folder. Here's how to do that:

  • First, users should launch the Photos app.
  • Once there, choose the Albums tab, then scroll to the bottom to find Hidden.
  • Lastly, users should tap on Hidden.

Users should keep in mind that those who know how to access the Photo app's album tab will eventually find the Hidden album. Those who have prying friends or family members can also hide the Hidden album. Here's how:

  • First, users should launch Settings.
  • Next, users should scroll down and tap on Photos, then look for and toggle Hidden Album off.

This process hides the Hidden album, even from the user. Thankfully, there's a way to make it accessible again but via another section. Here's how to do that:

  • First, users should launch Settings.
  • Next, scroll down and tap on Photos, then look for and toggle Hidden Album on.

The Hidden album will now be accessible via the Utilities section in the Photos app.

This is but one of the new features Apple added to iOS 14, alongside App Clips, new control center features and new home screen customization features.
