On May 29, Jon Stewart's new political satire, "Irresistible," will open in theaters. The film, which was written and directed by the former star of "The Daily Show," tells the story of a Democratic strategist who "helps a retired veteran run for mayor in a small, conservative Midwest town," according to IMDb. Who can you expect to see?

The trailer can be seen below.

Taking the lead role of Gary Zimmer is Steve Carell. Many fans will know him from his role as Michael Scott on NBC's "The Office," which ran from 2005–2013. However, most recently he has also gained attention due to his part as Mitch Kessler on "The Morning Show." On the Apple TV+ show, he acts alongside former "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston and "Big Little Lies" actress Reese Witherspoon as they tell the behind-the-scenes story of morning news.

Chris Cooper will star as Jack Hastings, the marine who inspires Carell's character to travel to the "swing state of Wisconsin." He has also starred in films such as 2002's "The Bourne Identity," 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and 2019's "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood."

However, Carell's character encounters an unexpected hurdle when Rose Byrne's character, who Esquire calls "a strategist with her own agenda," appears as his opposition. Byrne will be a familiar face to audiences thanks to her appearances in 2014's "Neighbors," where she acted with Seth Rogen, and 2020's "Like a Boss," which also featured Tiffany Haddish.

In addition to the aforementioned stars, former "That '70s Show" star Topher Grace, "Orange Is the New Black" actress Natasha Lyonne, and Debra Messing, known for "Will & Grace," will also lend their talents to the new movie.

"Irresistible" will open in theaters on May 29.
