How much is Isaiah Thomas’s net worth before the Los Angeles Clippers waived him? Have the fans seen the last of the diminutive guard on the NBA court?

These are some of the questions that swirl around the basketball universe after Thomas was waived by the Clippers after figuring in a three-team trade that also involved the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks. Marcus Morris was also shipped to the Clippers as part of the deal, per Bleacher Report.

Now, his career is in limbo as fans of Thomas await which team picks him up from free agency. If this is indeed the last time IT is in the NBA, his fans worry what he comes up next especially if no team signs him. Financially speaking, Thomas has an estimated net worth of about $20 million, according to COED. The point guard will get a salary of $2,320,000 for the 2019-2020 season.

The 5-foot, 9-inch point guard has been a journeyman in the league. He has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics. It was in a Celtics uniform that his career blossomed after averaging career-highs in scoring there. He even entered the MVP picture in the 2016-2017 season and led his team to Eastern Conference’s number 1 seed. Boston made the Eastern Conference finals but lost to the eventual champions, Cleveland Cavaliers.

Before making it to the pros, he showed flashes of brilliance in college. He averaged 30 points as a high school junior and went on to play for the University of Washington. He was picked in the 60th spot by the Kings in the 2011 draft but that served as his motivation to prove critics wrong. A lot of experts and scouts overlooked him because of his height but he compensated it with the size of his heart.

Born Isaiah Jamar Thomas, and more popularly known as IT, the former Celtics guard gained fame for playing awesome basketball and giving his all despite circumstances. In the 2017 season, his sister died tragically in a car accident but Thomas chose to play a day after for Boston. This time of dedication endeared him to Celtics diehards and now that he is free to sign with any team that wants him, fans clamor that Boston get him again.

Injuries have played their part in his ascension to NBA stardom. He made the All-Star team and All-NBA team but never really returned to his peak form after. He was averaging 12 points for the Wizards before being traded to the Clippers, which proves he can still play at point and provide instant offense to any team. Getting back from a serious hip injury is no joke and for trying to stay relevant and useful, Thomas deserved to be lauded and appreciated by basketball fans anywhere.
