With the release date of “Jack Ryan” Season 2 imminent, the cast members have shared some new insights about what the fans can expect to see. After getting promoted, John Krasinski’s character will be tracking a new case that will turn out to have global implications, and put him at odds with new people in the CIA.

Jack Ryan has had his share of office politics in the CIA, and that will continue in Season 2. His new mission will take him to Venezuela, where he will have to deal with the CIA station chief, who will not be happy about the young analyst stirring up trouble.

Michael Kelly plays the role of Mike November, the CIA station chief in Venezuela. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kelly joked that his character has a “really simply life” until Jack Ryan comes along with his case. “Then all hell breaks loose,” he teased.

The main plot of “Jack Ryan” Season 2 will be about Krasinski’s character tracking an illegal arms shipment that will turn out to be much more than just a simple arms case. The mission will take him to Russia, where his old friend James Greer (Wendell Pierce) will be stationed.

“Something I’m working on intersects with something that Jack is working on and it pulls us back together,” Pierce teased about his character and the plot. He added that the show is “multifaceted” this time around with the story focussed on “different threads” simultaneously, which means that the show will feel like a good novel or a thriller and the payoff will also be huge.

Jack’s continued journey will also be exciting this year. Krasinski told TV Insider that his character no longer thinks things in terms of just good or bad after his encounter with a dreaded terrorist. The CIA operative will be “morally ambiguous,” and he knows that he has to get his hands dirty in order to do the right thing.

“Jack Ryan” Season 2 will be released on Nov. 1 on Amazon Prime Video. The premiere episode is titled “Cargo.”
