  • James looking to help Everton perform better this season

James Rodriguez gets a chance to rejuvenate his career after agreeing to a two-year deal with an option for a third with Everton. The deal is said to be worth roughly $26 million which will also reunite him with Carlo Ancelotti for the third time.

James was desperately looking to leave Real Madrid after a disappointing season in La Liga. He was permitted by Los Blancos to look for another club and that turned out to be Everton. According to ESPN, Ancelotti had a hand in the signing of the 29-year-old player.

"James... is a fantastic player with a lot of quality and a lot of ability to make assists for the strikers," Ancelotti said. "He was really excited to sign and I didn't spend time to convince him -- he was already convinced."

And if there is any guy who knows how to bring out the best in James, it would be Ancelloti. It appears James is looking forward to recalling his old form, aware of the history and hoping to do his part to help the club win.

"I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well," James said via Everton's website. "I'm looking forward to achieving great things here -- and winning things, which is what everyone's aim is. I've come here to try to improve, to get better. I've also come here to help the team to win, to play good football -- entertaining football."

James becomes the next big signing of Everton. The previous one was Brazilian midfielder Allan who The Toffees got from SSC Napoli. According to The Guardian, Everton hopes to add a third midfielder before their Premier League season match at Tottenham. It appears that the person will be Abdoulaye Doucoure. Everton and Watford have agreed to a fee of $28 million for the 27-year-old central midfielder.

Everton finished 12th last season and are hoping James and Allan can boost their chances this time around. James has a proven track record but needs the right person to give him that push. Ancelotti could be that guy.
