Jay-Z has the resources to own an NFL team, but it appears that will not happen in the immediate future. Despite initial reports that he will be soon become a part-owner of an undisclosed team, it appears that there was some kind of miscommunication somewhere. To cut it short, the 49-year-old is not poised to become an NFL owner soon.

According to CBS Sports, the whole thing is false. Jason La Canfora confirmed that there are no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner. This could eventually happen but not right now.

“Multiple people connected to NFL ownership and the league office have told CBS Sports that this TMZ-reported rumor is simply false, that there are no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner,” he said.

Just last week, TMZ Sports came out with a report that Jay-Z is set to become part-owner of an NFL team. Citing unnamed sources with direct knowledge to the situation, the rapper allegedly significant ownership interest. From the way things look now, this was all an offshoot from the deal Carter's Roc Nation had on becoming the music entertainment strategist of the NFL. There is also the Colin Kaepernick angle, referring to the social injustice campaigns rocking the NFL.

"Those kinds of deals don't exist in the NFL," said another unnamed source. "There is no ownership component to this arrangement."

Jay-Z has yet to issue his take on the whole thing to clear the air. It may or may not happen. But the thing here is that any NFL ownership plans may happen in the future. However, that is not something that football fans should expect for now.

The rapper is no stranger when it comes to team ownership. He was a minority owner for the Brooklyn Nets before selling his stake in 2013. That could be the same scenario in the NFL in what some may consider a business investment for Jay-Z. Until something credible comes up, the rapper will be nothing more than a fan, for now, leaving NFL team ownership as a possibility. On when this will happen is anyone's guess.
