Solange and Beyonce

Jay Z and Solange Knowles have finally addressed their infamous elevator fight days after the security video from the Standard Hotel in New York leaked. The footage didn’t have any audio, so those who saw hip-hop's royal family duke it out in the elevator were fascinated with the footage, and trying to figure out what happened in the elevator.

It turns out that we might never know what words were exchanged in the spat, but at least they’ve released a statement. For those who don’t know, Solange Knowles is the sister of Beyoncé, the rapper’s wife and mother of his child Blue Ivy.

The overall message of their joint statement, released Thursday afternoon: We’re family and we fight, but we still love each other. Who hasn’t wanted to throw a punch or two at a family member during Thanksgiving dinner? Their full statement has been provided below, courtesy of TMZ, which happens to be the same outlet that was responsible for airing the duo’s dirty laundry in the first place.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

The statement continued: "The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems, and we're no different."

"We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."

Would it be all too cliché to say Jay Z has 99 problems and family is one? We had to do it. As far as the true cause for the fight, the world may never find out.
