Jennifer Aniston will reportedly make her return to television alongside fellow famed actress Reese Witherspoon, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Thursday. The pair is slated to star in a television series that revolves around the world of television morning shows in New York.

The untitled project doesn't belong to a network, but it is expected to hit the market in the coming weeks, giving networks and streaming services the opportunity to bid on the show. Having Aniston and Witherspoon's names attached to the project is expected to spark interest among potential buyers.

The show's concept was an original idea from former HBO executive Michael Ellenberg. Ellenberg is launching the series under his film and television production company Media Res, a collaborative effort between the HBO alum and Bron Studios.

"House of Cards" producer Jay Carson reportedly wrote the script, with Steve Kloves of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" listed as an executive producer. Aniston and Witherspoon will also serve as executive producers, with Witherspoon, who recently starred in HBO's "Big Little Lies," producing the project through her production company Hello Sunshine.

Aniston is no stranger to the television scene, despite her extended detour to tackle more roles on the big screen in recent years. She starred as Rachel Green in the popular 90s NBC show, "Friends," which earned her a Primetime Emmy award in 2002. However, she hasn't had a major starring role on a TV program since, aside from occasional guest-starring parts on NBC's "30 Rock." Aniston's return to television will also reunite her with Witherspoon, who had previously played her sister on two episodes of "Friends."

Aniston spoke with Variety at January's Sundance Film Festival about her television past, claiming she was open to a possible return. She said, "I've thought about it a lot. That’s where the work is. That’s where the quality is."

Since her departure from television, Aniston has taken on several film roles. She recently has starred in "Horrible Bosses," "Just Go With It," "We're The Millers" and "Wanderlust," among others. Her work in the 2014 film "Cake" was praised by critics, earning Aniston nominations from the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globes.

Witherspoon, who is mostly known as a film star, recently earned an Emmy nomination in "Big Little Lies." The seven-episode series also included other film stars such as Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley.

Witherspoon gained mainstream attention in teen-targeted films like "Cruel Intentions" and "Legally Blonde," though she has enjoyed critical success, as well. She won an Academy Award in 2006 for her role in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line." In 2015, she was nominated for Best Actress for "Wild." Witherspoon also has a total of four Golden Globe nominations.

Representatives for Aniston and Witherspoon did not immediately return International Business Times' request for comment.
