It seems that VH1 is destined to break the record for most celeb reality shows crammed into one network! It was announced today that sexpot/funny woman Jenny McCarthy will star in a new series called The Jenny McCarthy Show.

According to the LA Times, the talk show will debut this summer and feature pop culture news, guest panelists, and celebrity interviews. The blond bombshell is no stranger to network television, she has guest starred on such hit shows as My Name is Earl, Two and a Half Men, and Just Shoot Me.

According to VH1 rep Jeff Olde, McCarthy is the perfect blend of humor and elegance. In a press release from earlier today, he boasted:

Jenny is a great comedic talent with a sharp wit and magnetic personality, and we couldn't be happier to welcome her to the VH1 family. Our viewers connect with smart, funny, and outspoken women and Jenny certainly represents all of those elements wrapped up in a style that makes people smile.

So will the show outshine the likes of Love & Hip-Hop, T.I and Tiny, and Basketball Wives? That seems probable since McCarthy has been able to capture the public's attention since the mid-nineties. Though she initially emerged as a Hollywood pin-up, she eventually broke out as a comedian, actress, and even a New York Times best-selling author (she has written 7 books to date). She also took on the role of activist after her son, Evan, was diagnosed with autism in 2005. She is currently the president of Generation Rescue, which aids families affected by the developmental disorder.

Reality TV fans yearning for some substance can rejoice! It seems that the upcoming series will tackle relevant issues with a comedic slant. The Jenny McCarthy Show is set to be executive produced by McCarthy and Michael Davies for Embassy Row.
