Ronnie Magro-Ortiz is currently in police custody but that's not the shocking news. The shocking news is what the "Jersey Shore" star said just hours before his arrest.

According to reports by TMZ, the 33-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly striking Jen Harley -- his on-again/off-again girlfriend and mother of their 17-month-old daughter Ariana Sky -- and chasing her with a knife.

Fans of the reality tv show and cast know that the couple has a volatile relationship, but not long before the incident, they seemed just fine and were even holding hands. Ronnie even told the media that his real life isn't like what the MTV cameras portray.

"Me and Jen have a strong love for each other," he exclusively told E! News. "What the show portrays and what we really have for each other are two completely different things. They ask why do we stay with each other? And it's because we know what we have is real. And at the end of the day, people don't see what we have, they see what MTV wants you guys to see."

"They're going to show what they want to show, and they're going to portray you the way that they want to portray you," the reality star continued. "But at the end of the day you've got to realize it's a show, its television, it's for ratings and it's a job."

Perhaps, the father of one should get some advice from his fellow "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, who's made some drastic life changes since he was first introduced to viewers.

"Jersey Shore Family Vacation" airs Thursdays at 8 PM ET on MTV.
