Actress Jessica Chastain met Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky in the war-torn country's capital city of Kyiv on Sunday.

The comedian-turned-president took to his official Telegram account to share the photos of him sitting with the 45-year-old actress in the presidential palace.

"American actress Jessica Chastain is in Ukraine today," Zelensky wrote alongside the photos. "For us, such visits of famous people are extremely valuable."

Zelensky, 44, praised the actress for visiting and noted it will help share the news of what is happening in their country with the world. "Thanks to this, the world will hear, know and understand the truth about what is happening in our country even more," he wrote.

One of the fans shared the photos on Twitter on Sunday.

In the photos, the actress can be seen in a black outfit and wore her hair in a loose ponytail. Zelensky, on the other hand, can be seen wearing a green t-shirt and grey pants. They posed together in front of the Ukraine flag in the office.

Apart from visiting the presidential palace, the actress also visited Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital located in the same city.

Chastain is not the first celebrity to visit Ukraine amid the ongoing war brought on by Russia. Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Sean Penn and Ben Stiller are other actors who have visited the country in the last few months.

The official Twitter account of the Defense of Ukraine shared photos of Stiller's visit on June 21 and shared how they are grateful.

"🇺🇦 [Ukraine] is grateful to Hollywood stars who, despite the danger, have visited us. @SeanPenn, @LievSchreiber, Angelina Jolie, @BenStiller you are more than just an inspiration to all of us. Millions around the world have heard the truth from you about the struggle of the 🇺🇦 [Ukraine] people."

Many celebs including Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Olga Kurylenko, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Milla Jovovich have been vocal about their stance against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On the work front, Chastain will be next seen in the movie, "The Good Nurse," where she will portray Amy Loughren's character. The flick is slated to release in September and it is helmed by director Tobias Lindholm.
