KEY POINTS

  • Jill Biden rocked an all-black outfit that included patterned stockings and booties last week
  • Some Twitter users felt that the first lady was too old for the style
  • Others praised Biden's outfit, saying the FLOTUS pulled it off

The internet has mixed opinions over a recent outfit worn by Dr. Jill Biden.

Last week, Biden, 69, was photographed leaving Executive One Foxtrot, the first lady's plane, wearing what InStyle has dubbed "early aughts emo meets White House matriarch." The all-black outfit that raised some eyebrows consisted of floral fishnet tights, heeled booties, a semi-pleated leather skirt and a fitted blazer. She completed the look with a black face mask.

Over at Twitter, while some believe the first lady pulled off the look, others were not as impressed.

"FLOTUS is too ancient to rock fishnets. Melania definitely has the legs for them not crusty old Jill Biden," one person commented.

"Jill Biden is just too old to be wearing fishnets. It’s gross. But Melania on the other hand would rock them," another wrote.

"It’s not JUST the fishnets. It’s the whole mess. A miniskirt? All black? Not too springy. The outfit is ugly for a woman of any age. No one pays attention to #Flotus anyway. The only thing I’ve seen are people still talking about #Melania," @LDsGarage commented.

"I think Jill B has the holidays confused. She must think it's Halloween. What is she 70? Either way she's much too old for fishnets & stilleto booties," another Twitter user wrote.

Amid the criticism, however, many others came to the first lady's defense and praised Biden's outfit, pointing out that anyone can rock whatever style they like no matter their age.

"She makes me feel like HELL yes, girl, 50 isn’t too old for fishnet stocking!" one person tweeted.

"Come on get a grip, I wore fishnet stockings back in the day. I my 72 year old legs looked as good as Jill’s I would do the same," a second user added.

"First, they are not fishnets, they are patterned," another clarified, adding, "and second OMG, she crushed this look! No wonder Joe is still smitten."

"Are those considered fishnets? Either way she looks great and great shoes," another person commented, adding a high five emoji.

Meanwhile, Biden pulled a prank on staff and reporters on a flight back to Washington, D.C., from California on April Fools' Day, NBC News reported.

The educator dressed up as a flight attendant, donning a black wig and name tag reading "Jasmine," and handed out Dove ice cream bars. After the meal service, Biden then reportedly returned to the cabin sans wig and exclaimed, "April Fools!"
