  • John Cena made his return to the WWE in a match against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam
  • Brock Lesnar also made a shocking return after the match to attack Cena
  • Cena believes that Lesnar is "one of, if not the best ever" to grace the ring

John Cena is never one to shy away from sharing his thoughts when given the space to do so.

The 16-time champion made his shocking return to the WWE after a 15-month layoff at the 2021 Money in the Bank pay-per-view to confront WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns after his win over Edge.

Cena would be in a program with Reigns leading to their clash at WWE SummerSlam last August 21, where he would lose.

Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring to confront Reigns, but the Universal Champion left the ring, leading to Lesnar attacking Cena after the show went off the air.

With a Reigns-Lesnar program on the horizon, Cena is enjoying a break of his own.

In an appearance on “That Scene With Dan Patrick", Cena talked about his budding acting career and his recent stint in the WWE ring.

More importantly, Cena commented on Lesnar’s return, his new look, and where he stands in the pantheon of WWE greats.

“I didn’t notice the ponytail,” said Cena. “I noticed that he was the size of two Brock Lesnar’s, that’s pretty much it. He looks mean and nasty no matter what, and I just think he’s trying to stretch the boundaries of that to see what he can pull off.”

“But he’s an anomaly. He’s one of, if not the best ever.”

Lesnar really is a freak of nature.

Professional wrestling fans remember the shooting star press that he performed at Wrestlemania XIX in his match against Kurt Angle in the main event.

He may have botched it during Wrestlemania, but Lesnar successfully pulled off the move multiple times in the past.

When he had enough of the WWE lifestyle, Lesnar made a bid for the NFL but it fell through, leading to him trying out mixed martial arts.

Lesnar made sure everyone noticed that he truly was a freak of nature when he steamrolled his opponents with a combination of speed, strength, and agility that no one close to his stature should be able to possess.

These days, Lesnar has become an attraction that tWWE brings out to face their top superstars but at the peak of his powers in the 2000s, Lesnar lived up to his nickname of “The Next Big Thing”.

The compliment certainly has weight to it as Cena himself was on the cusp of breaking his tie with Ric Flair for the most world championships in WWE against Reigns at SummerSlam, further strengthening his own stake at being one of the best to ever do it in the squared-circle.

Superstars like Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and countless others have a claim to the title of "Best Ever" WWE talent, but there simply is a gravity around Lesnar’s freakish athleticism that continues to make him a top draw in the WWE.

When it is all said and done, Lesnar is a surefire first-ballot WWE Hall of Famer and he will have his spot among the greats in the business.
