Johnny Depp previously filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, after she penned an op-ed piece for the Washington Post two years ago.

In her op-ed piece, the “Aquaman” star referenced her 2016 abuse allegations against Depp without directly mentioning the actor’s name. At that time, Heard also claimed that she became a representative of domestic abuse, and she also felt the need to speak out.

After reading the op-ed piece, Depp filed a lawsuit against Heard whilst denying his ex-wife’s claims. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star claimed that he didn’t perpetrate domestic violence against Heard.

Depp also said that Heard’s complaint was part of an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity and advance her career. But one of the most shocking allegations that Depp included in his lawsuit had to do with Heard’s alleged drug use.

The actor claimed that Heard had abused prescription amphetamines and non-prescription drugs. Depp also claimed that his ex-wife hit, punched, and kicked him on multiple occasions.

Deep added that Heard oftentimes threw objects at him during their fights such as the remote control, paint thinner cans, burning candles, soda cans, and more.

Unfortunately, the actor’s claims seemingly fell on deaf ears. Instead of Heard being investigated for her alleged drug use, the court ordered Depp to submit his drug and alcohol use records.

“By November 15, 2019, Plaintiff must produce all non-privileged, responsive documents requested by Defendant’s document requests,” Fairfax County Chief Judge Bruce White ordered last year.

Heard’s lawyer, J. Benjamin Rottenborn said that it is unlikely for Depp to be able to give full and honest accounts about his relationship with Heard when he is the one who is always intoxicated.

“Mr. Depp cannot seek to litigate the truth of Ms. Heard’s allegations about his violent and abusive behavior while intoxicated, insist on proceeding without a protective order, and then blithely refuse to produce evidence that confirms the truth of those allegations on grounds of relevance and ‘privacy,’” he said.

Meanwhile, Depp and Heard’s messy divorce is making headlines once again after audio tapes of their fights were leaked online via Daily Mail.
