  • Paulo Dybala is more likely to sign with Real Madrid than Barcelona
  • Dybala says it's difficult to play with Lionel Messi
  • Real Madrid and Barcelona have been wanting to sign Dybala for a couple of years now

It was earlier reported that Paulo Dybala sees the opportunity of playing for Barcelona as a “very nice” option for him. However, the said statement was dismissed by another account that claimed the Juventus forward is more likely to sign with Real Madrid as he is reportedly setting himself up for a grudge match up against Lionel Messi.

An article from Diario GOL has created speculation that the two Argentine internationals may have a concealed animosity between them, and that feud is said to be the ultimate driving force that would lead the 26-year-old over to Santiago Bernabeu.

“Some media report these days that (Dybala) has offered to (play for) Barça. But the reality is a very different one. And that is Dybala does not consider playing alongside Leo Messi in his plans. ‘It is difficult to play with him,’ he acknowledged a while ago in an interview,” the report read.

According to Everything Barca’s Atharva Khadilkar, who labeled Dybala as “Messi’s hater,” one possible reason behind the tension could be due to the alleged mandate from Messi to deny Dybala access to Camp Nou after the latter was previously rumored to join the Catalans.

“It has been said that (Dybala) desires vengeance against his compatriot Messi,” Khadilkar wrote. “Lionel Messi has been a player who has apparently blocked Dybala’s potential moves to the Camp Nou.”

While it is also being reported that an extension deal to stay in Turin remains in play, Dybala may not discount the reality that playing for a La Liga giant under Zinedine Zidane could create wonders for his career, especially that the 47-year-old manager is eager to sign a stable weapon for his “project.”

Although Dybala could be settling at a potentially lower deal with the Spanish capital, the transfer could still end up being mutually beneficial for both parties.

“This year things have changed and having fallen under Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow since the last one year, the Argentina international is open to joining another club for greater prominence and a newer challenge,” Khadilkar added.

“Real Madrid will be able to afford Dybala comfortably given the fact that his value isn’t as inflated as it was some years ago. The Whites will inevitably look at a right-winger to replace Gareth Bale and the Juve winger is a great target.”

Hearing the footsteps of the Spanish giants, Dybala is starting to play his cards right. He begins his ploy by putting the pressure on Juventus, hoping to be placed at an ideal situation of choosing between signing a lucrative extension at Vecchia Signora or starting a new life at Madrid.
