West’s journey toward Christianity was and is still met with criticisms. There may be a lot of people, including his family and friends, who support him, there are still some out there who are skeptical about his faith.

Nevertheless, West has never been more inspired. His personal encounter and devotion to God saved him and changed his life.

West admitted to being an alcoholic after realizing that, indeed, he was. People kept telling him he wasn’t until he realized that he was already drinking alcohol for breakfast and vodka during midday.

West did not shy away from admitting his everyday struggle with alcohol. He said it’s something he took on day by day. The rapper said that each day he didn’t pick up the drink he was beating the devil, iHeart Radio reported.

Kim Kardashian’s husband also admitted that God, through the Sunday Service he’s spearheading, saved his life. West professed that the “thing was an alternative to opioids. That thing was an alternative to pornography,” Metro reported.

West opened up that he got addicted to opioids after his liposuction surgery. He told the news outlet TMZ that he underwent the said surgery because he was insecure of his body and he didn’t want to be called fat, the Insider reported.

West’s insecurity reportedly stemmed from how the way tabloids talked about how fat Rob Kardashian, his brother-in-law, was. According to the American rapper, [Rob] Kardashian flew back home before he got married with [Kim] Kardashian. Aside from the struggles West, which was the possible effect of people’s body shaming against his brother-in-law, he reportedly felt isolated when he was hospitalized.

Meanwhile, West’s also struggled with his addiction —pornography— as much as he struggled with drugs and alcohol. Kardashian’s husband reportedly said he was exposed to pornography when he was young.

West’s mother, Donda, died at 58 after her cosmetic surgery. The impact of his mother’s death in 2007 was so intense that he got addicted to sex, The Irish Times reported.

West was accused of being crazy a couple of times, ridiculed and criticized because of his new-found faith. Will any of those matter though?

Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk and peace activist, once said that people deal too much with the negative and focus on what’s wrong.

Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom? he added.
