Kate Middleton channeled her late mother-in-law Princess Diana during a recent outing with Queen Elizabeth II.

On Sunday, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted in a vehicle with the Queen on their way to church. In the sighting, Middleton wore a gray coat and black hat and accessorized with a pair of pearl drop earrings.

According to Alahna Kindred, a journalist for Express, Middleton's look is reminiscent of Princess Diana. The publication shared a snap of the late People's Princess wearing a similar gray coat while walking in Balmoral. In the snap, the Princess of Wales is smiling as she holds Prince Charles' hand and while her other hand is inside her pocket.

The photograph was captured during Prince Charles and Princess Diana's honeymoon in 1981 while they were walking along the River Dee. While the couple appeared to be loved up, reality wasn't as romantic as it appeared in these photos.

In a letter, Princess Diana confessed that Prince Charles used that time to catch up on sleep. In addition, the second-in-line to the throne reportedly brought along a photo of Camilla Parker Bowles during the trip.

"On one occasion, [Diana] and Charles had been consulting their diaries when a photograph of Camilla fell out of his," Penny Junor wrote in the revelatory book "The Untold Story of Penny Junor." "Another time, when they were in formal dress for dinner, she noticed the Prince was wearing a pair of gold cufflinks engraved with interwoven Cs."

Prince Charles and Princess Diana's relationship wasn't smooth because there were apparently three of them in their marriage. Prince William and Prince Harry's mother was aware of Prince Charles and Camilla's affair. In fact, she even confronted her rival at one point.

In addition, Princess Diana confessed that Prince Philip advised Prince Charles to get back with Camilla if their marriage doesn't work out after five years. According to the princess, she had a hint about it and eventually confirmed it.

"My father-in-law said to my husband, 'If your marriage doesn't work out, you can always go back to her after five years,'" Princess Diana said in a 2017 Channel 4 special that utilized taped conversations between the Princess of Wales and her voice coach. "Which is exactly—I mean, for real I knew that it had happened after five—I knew something was happening before that but the fifth year I had confirmation."
