Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge has been in the spotlight for over a decade and has been an official member of Britain’s royal family for eight years since marrying Prince William, but that doesn’t mean she’s fully comfortable living in the limelight.

Fresh off her appearance at the Trooping of the Colour ceremony in London on June 8, Us Weekly has revealed that the Duchess still struggles when it comes to public events.

“Kate still finds these huge public events overwhelming,” a “palace insider” told the magazine in their June 24 print issue. According to the publication’s findings, Kate is envious of her sister-in-law Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex due to how well she appears to be handling her new role in the royal family.

“She’s always been naturally shy,” the source said of Kate, adding, “Truth be told, she envies her sister-in-law Meghan’s ease in front of crowds.”

Still, the insider said Kate continues to impress “everyone with her ability to paste a huge smile on her face.”

“She knows that she has a responsibility to be front and center, given that one day these events will be in honor of her husband," added the source. "It’s something she’ll have to work at for the rest of her life.”
