Kate Middleton has lost one confidant after Peter and Autumn Phillip's divorce.

The Duchess of Cambridge has developed close ties with most members of the royal family. Just recently, the palace announced Peter and Autumn’s separation. However, Autumn’s exit could also mean that Middleton would be losing a friend because she is expected to move out from the U.K.

“We’ve seen them at polo together and Kate is really good friend with Autumn,” said Angela Mollard on “Royal” podcast.

Mollard recalled that Middleton’s first royal engagement and meeting with Queen Elizabeth II happened at Peter and Autumn’s wedding in 2008. At the time, Prince William was away as he attended another wedding. Middleton’s solo attendance at the event paved the way for her friendship with Autumn.

Mollard said that Middleton has to be careful on who to open up about her thoughts because anything she says has to be kept a secret especially after she joins the royal family. So, she only has a few people she can talk to and Autumn is one of them.

“The special creed within the Royal Family of nondisclosure means that speaking to somebody like Autumn with more depth…they have so many shallow conversations every day, they have to speak so generically about everything, she has to think about what she says every time,” Mollard explained.

“For Kate to be able to properly talk to somebody like Autumn must be incredibly valuable. She has a sister and a mum but most of us have more than a couple of people we can confide in. You just have to hope that relationship doesn’t change. Being in the Royal Family, at times, must be incredibly lonely. To have allies is very important.”

Middleton is also very close with Prince William’s cousin and Peter’s sister Zara Tindall. The two have been photographed sharing a fun conversation and giving each other a hug and a kiss at the Royal Ascot.

However, there are rumors that Zara might also leave Britain for good. The Olympic equestrian was seen with her husband Mike celebrating New Year in Australia. Zara also did not deny the possibility of her moving out of U.K. if an opportunity comes up and when she’s done competing for the Olympics.
